Fort XIII "San Rideau" - a three-storey armored, twin shaft, central, fort defending the V segment of defense. Built in 1892-94 by the engineer Moritz von Bruner, the fort is located approximately 8km from the town of Przemyśl. The fort also controlled two auxiliary forts, XIII and XIIIb. The upper shaft had a gunrest of six 150 mm cal. howitzers laced in the rotating towers of armored domes. It also had four rapid-fire 80 mm cal. guns. The area in front of the fort was protected the barbed wire and at night it was lighted by a special mobile gas headlights. The magazines of the artillery fort housed three wagons of ammunition. The main purpose of this fort was shielding the line of the San River on the east bank and to guard the nearby railway line between Przemyśl and Krakow. The range of their guns provided control over the river fords between the villages of Hurko and Walawa. The Fort is open to the public. Unfortunately, it is a very large extent destroyed.
