Fort XII "Werner" is located in the town of Żurawica approximately 7 km from Przemyśl. This is the main artillery fort in the IV northern section of the defense. The fort operated independently of the main ring of defense of 1883 and had no auxiliary forts or connections.

The fort was named after the name of the first Commandant of the fortress of Przemyśl, Anthony Werner. It was built in the years 1882-1886 as a Single-shaft artillery fort. The main armament of Fort XII "Werner" was the artillery deployed in positions on the shaft. The positions were separated by cross members, in which were housed emergency shelters for infantry and the service department. In the courtyard there are barracks that were used for accomodation. There was also a kitchen, food storage, as well as rooms for officers and the commander of the fort.

The fort is preserved in good condition, though there is some signs of damage and traces of targetted artillery fire from the time of the third siege, when the army allied forces of Austria-Hungary and Germany recaptured the Fortress from the hands of Russia.
