Fort VIII "Łętownia" was built in years 1881-1882. This was the main artillery fort, single-shafted, centered. It is located approx. 5 km. from Przemyśl in the northern area of the village Kuńkowce. It is certainly one of the best preserved forts of the Fortress because the level of destruction is estimated at approx 18%. This fort was used not only during the First World War. Its site the German Gestapo during World War II used as a place of executions of Poles and Jews transported here from Przemyśl and Jarosław. Those tragic events are commemorated by an obelisk which was erected next to the fort. After the war, for many years the fort was a storehouse of wines for Plants Fruit - Vegetables Pomona in Przemyśl.
