The Umbrella Project: the promotion of the common heritage, history and culture of the Polish-Ukrainian “Przemyśl Fortress”

 

Implemented by the Association of the Carpathian Euroregion, Poland, the umbrella project promotes the common heritage, history and culture of the Polish and Ukrainian "Przemyśl Fortress" and is funded by the European Union under the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013.

The total value of the umbrella project - 541 772.63 Euros.
Value of the subsidy - 492 522.63 Euros.
Duration: 12 months (01/01/2014 – 31/12/2014)

Objective of the project: The aim of the project is to support social and economic development of the border areas in the district of Przemyśl in Poland, and the Mostyska region in Ukraine through the promotion of the infrastructure of "the Przemyśl Fortress".

During the 12 months of the project, 22 partners in the 10 micro-projects will undertake a number of activities in Poland and the Ukraine with the goal of socio-economic development of the border areas by promoting the infrastructure of "the Przemyśl Fortress".

The development of the Polish-Ukrainian strategy of promoting "the Przemyśl Fortress" includes: a workshop for the tourism sector, preparation of a virtual journey through the fortifications and other interesting historical locations on the border, the preparation of a historical reenactment of the battle of Przemyśl, culinary workshops, arts, sports events, running a youth volunteer program aimed at the renovation of buildings and the surrounding forts, tombs and chapels in military cemeteries, to establish cooperation between schools in the District of Przemysl and the District of Mostyska to cultivate the cultural and historical heritage of "the Przemyśl Fortress". This is just a part of the activities prepared by the Association that are planned for implementation from January 2014.
